Match: Apollo (0) vs. Body Count (2)

Weather - Pouring rain, -1 to all ball handling and -1 Movement due to mud. Typical! Why couldn't it have been a nice 7.

Fame - +1 to Renard.

Kick Off - I recieved.

Even due to the lousy weather I was pretty confident of getting something out of this game due to my secret weapon - Hack Enslash! Armour 7 mainly + chainsaw = Lots of dead Gobbo's and Rats. Renard kicked and I promptly got a touch back (big smiles, happy thoughts!). Moved up, built a cage all was well with the world. Turn 1 all but over now to blitz with Hack, 1 dead Gobbo coming up. Whats this? A 1? Your joking! Didnt take the risk on loner, 8 followed by double 5, 1 on the Regen roll, that was that! Renards turn to smile broadly. My next 4 turns didnt involve a lot of moving as Renard pinned me in with some aggresive defensive play. Side Stepping Goblins are the most annoying players......ever! With a Skelly off through some gang fouling (skaven lineman was sent off) I was just waiting for the gap to appear when a Tomb Guardian hit the deck. Now, with one sent off i didnt expect Renard to gang foul again, sadly I had underestimated his desire for death. Through the armour with assists and then Double 6 on injury, oh dear! With only 3 TG's anyway and Decay to contend with I shut my eyes and rolled....5! Big sigh of relief which was heard in Aberdean and then back to the business of trying to kill Underworld players. Made my gap and pegged it down the pitch with a Blitz-ra for protection. A failed Goblin dodge and I was clear, 1-0 at half-time.

The 2nd half opened with a quick snap for Renard but he tried for a completion which saw the ball loose (however, he did make 2 successful ones during the course of the game). Managed to get a tackle zone on the ball with a TG and pressed the area around the ball with as many players as i could, creating a....well, a mess really! Renard was forced into a backtrack after retrieving the ball allowing my 2 Blitz-ra's to gang up on his Skaven ball carrier. At last my TG's found out that they were on the pitch to cause casualties and 2 came along like buses. This dealt the death knell sadly to Renard's brave resistance. With prone players on the side lines marked (ready for crowd surfing if they were stood) and outnumbered in the middle of the board, my Blitz-ra got hold of the ball and ran in turn 8 for 2-0.

As this was only his 2nd game Renard caused me massive problems in the 1st half and i was fortunate to be able to break away to lead at half time. The sending offs hurt him in the long run as the strength advantage my team held started producing dividends in the 2nd half. Great opponent and looking forward to the rematch (I expect more side steppers sadly). As for Hack....no comment!

Match: Tzeentchian Tormentors (3) vs. The Monstars (0)

The opening game saw drizzle and an early blitz for TT. Chinian was able to come up with the ball and first score went to TT.

The resulting kick led to a second blitz for TT. This time Alu was able to come up with the ball and a second successive blitz score for TT.

The second half opened with Monstars fans unhappy with the Blitzs. The resulting Riot meant time was missed from the second half. The drive made by TT was initially stopped by a fireball that took down 3 players and Badly hurt a third. TT had set their drive well and Mantas who had the ball land at his feet continued his excellent run to score.

The next kick off saw a change of weather with strong winds taking the ball straight off the field. The Monstars drove forwards and were looking good with switches from one box formation to another. Unfortunately the second box saw the ball fumbled on a pass off with the ball bouncing around between lots of players and Morg n Thorg ending up with the ball. Charun the cruel joined by two beastmen did a 50/50 block that saw Morg taken out of the game for the second game in a row by TT. This spurred the Monstars to action with 2 fast casualties for TT with some successful passing in-between. Firstly Leghorn took out Mictla with a straight death that the apothecary could only reduce to a smashed collar bone. The coach told the apothecary not to bother. The second saw foghorn kill Shedim.

At this point the whistle blew to the relief of the TT coach.

Match: Grok Stompa (0) vs. WAR on Tour (1)

With the weather playing up all week, it wasn't a surprise to the lacking attendance at Grok's homeground to find the stadium had been hit by terrential rain. Not letting this horrendous glitch stop them, both teams took to the pitch knowing this was an essential win - putting them clear at the top of the league table.<p>

The game started with Grok recieving and, after flattening the front line of humans, proceeded to fumble about in the rain for the ball. Eventually locking it up tight in greenskin hands, they secured it just into their half and started throwing black orcs into 'The Tour's' faces. Seeing an opportunity to break through a funneled opening in WAR's line, Stompa threw the ball carrier into the opposing half, hoping to box it up tight enough behind enemy lines. The support was not strong enough to hold however, and WAR made a blitzing play, stripping the ball off the Orcs and securing it themselves. A relatively easy stroll upfield and some goal hanging meant they made it 1-0 in the closing seconds of the first half.<p>

As the players took to the field for the second half, spirits were high as the realisation of clear skies meant handling the ball should be a piece of cake... or so you would've thought! With Strong winds blowing, the orc kick went deep and after a strong pocket set up, Superstar Dante went straight for the ball... only to drop it.... and again.... and again.... AND AGAIN! Not being one to pass up an opportunity like this, Grok threw everything they could onto the ball (which was now only inches from 'The Tour's goal line). After what seemes like hours of back and forth punching, ball pickups, ball drops and pushing about, the ball ended up in orc hands mere inches from the line. With one last desperation play, WAR floored the Greenskin and Dante earned a little forgiveness with a beautiful defensive pass over the top of the Orcs.<p>

Not wanting to tempt fate, WAR held off from making the 2-0 play and held the ball mid field until the clock ran down. A great game between two real contendors in Division 1. With WAR avoiding the draw by the skin of their teeth, we wonder if their luck will run out when this same game comes around at Fumbly in a few weeks.

Match: Da Firm (0) vs. The Fancy Lads (0)

Well folks, there's a storm coming! The brisk autumnal wind is gonna make these players work to stand on their feet if they push their stamina on those long runs.

Although this is the first time these teams have met, the coaches have had a previous run in - it was none too pleasant if I remember...(I've heard Da Firm's boss mutter about taking out the Minotaur tonight but I think he's got a beef with The Fancy Lads' coach).

The rookie chaos bunch look like they've played quite a bit in the pre season "un freindlies" and they seem well co-ordinated; unlike the Orc team who - as usual - have gone for an unorthodox start.

The Orcs kick off with a neatly placed kick almost into the endzone - that's going to take some chasing down!

Eventually the chaos team have picked up the ball leaving it well guarded. The Orcs seem to be all over the place with no particular game plan. They are just chasing The Fancy Lads around; who seem quite content to split the entire Orc team apart. Wait...Here comes an amazing play: The ball is handed off; it's run down the line and sucessfully thrown! This has got to end in a touchdown, but not yet as the chaos player has run out of steam a few paces from the endzone, he shouldn't have to worry as the lone player seems well protected from his team mates who are following behind.

I can't watch, there's an Orc blitzer, number seven I think, he's really GOING FOR IT! even in this terrible wind, he's knocked the marauder down and succesfully picked up the ball! Watch it though because Teiwaz is charging in for the kill. However, all that he can manage is a push which allows for a fantastic pass all the way up field - that's got to be 98 yards!!!

The Orc rush to the ball but its bouncing from team to team and no one will be scoring this half!

The second half starts a lot more organised for Da Firm - they've set up their familiar cage and have the ball nestled in no time. The ball is slowing trudging up the pitch with those nasty Black Orc pushing onwards. They're not fast though and The Fancy Lads have got a lot of payers around that Orc shield. There's not much room for manouvering and The Fancy Lads won't want to be caught by the same trick twice - that long ball really upset them, could they be in for a second upset?

Right, back to the action. Here comes the Minotaur again - he's so angry he's not noticed that he's been surrounded by Black Orcs. Frag L. Rock - who to be honest didn't do much last season has thrown a MASSIVE punch to Teiwaz and he's gone down hard - the crowd has been stunned to silence. He's not moving! The Chaos apothacary has come on with all many of equipment. It's OK folks the big guy is OK and will return next week I'm sure...wait...wait...NO WAY! The readings were false on the chaotic medical equipment TEIWAZ IS DEAD DEAD DEAD!!! - It looks like it's going to be cow pie tonight and the Orc supporters have gone wild - it's bovine madness here.

Da Firm have got what they came for and half heartedly attempt another long throw but its too far to collect. The score remains nil nil but Da Firm are singing in the wind. Oh the dramas of this great and beautiful game.

Team news by Warpstuff Wodents

We caught up with the Wodents (a task easier said than done) after their recent tense and excitement-strewn match against the Stendhal Sirens. Despite having lost, the team were in remarkably high spirits. We attributed this mainly to them all surviving the match unscathed. Team apothecary "Stiches" was unavailable for comment on this continuing phenomenon, as he was currently busy administering to Big Ju-Ju who had eaten the team's accountant and was having an unusual reaction to the warptokens he'd been carrying upon his person at the inopportune moment.

Whilst newcommer Snark hasn't quite made as much headlong progress as his predecessor, Ziggy, scoring the Wodent's only touchdown is not too shabby either. Current glory-rat gutter runner Scree, however, was keeping his snout down hoping that his un-Skavenlike heroism in bringing down Siren blitzer Santiago upon the Wodents' End Zone (twice!) would hold their attention over his fumbled throw in the final moments of the second half (coincidentally the one that many fans consider cost them the match).

At their latest training session we witnesed another new recruit - one Neep Skuttlebutt, an eager young linerat recently brought onto the squad after kicking the team's mascot, Skippy the Wonder-rat, in the dugout. WW assistant coach Tweezul Twitchynose, commented that the amusing incident caught the eye of the head coach who instantly promoted him into the squad apparently quoting "'Cos we needs more padding 'gainst 'dem dumbo Orcs. Ev'ryone knows Orcs is green, not red!"

Match: WAR on Tour (1) vs. The Suffragette Movement (0)

An incredibly brutal back and forth game here at Fumbly Stadium. With two former league champions going head to head to start Division one this season - the fans came excited and left happy!<p>

WAR on Tour received in the first half and confidently marched the ball upfield swaying side to side trying to throw the tight defence off their attack. Mere inches from the end zone, but under an incredible amount of Norse pressure, Star Thrower Dante attempted what seemed like an easy dodge to make it 1-0 to WAR..... Only to fall flat on his face. The ball bounced from the now eternally shamed Dante's hands and straight into the arms of the Suffras no.10! Playing a quick pass downfield, they looked sure to make it 1-0 before the whistle blew but a misjudged run left them just inches away from scoring as the whistle blew for half time. 0-0<p>

With WAR down 10 players to 11, the suffras looked strong, receiving the ball and locking it up in a loose cage, ulfwerenars fronting this pocket of destruction. Piling on the pressure, WAR pushed shamed thrower Dante into the mix, forcing him to singlehandedly charge at the ball carrier. Within seconds Adele Claws frenzied her way through the talentless oaf and pushed him into the stands. Realizing that holding off would be their demise, WAR jumped onto the Suffras, swamping them with blocks and blitzes. As it came to the middle of the 2nd half, WAR was up 10 players to 5 and made a play for the ball at midfield. Tank smashed the ball from the carrier, and a few more punches and some KOs later, the Norse were down to 3 players and WAR scooped up the rock and held it at the oppositions line until the closingnseconds. Walking across the line to a mix of cheers and boos, ended a beautiful game of blood bowl for these top teams.<p>

So many close calls and a few bad judgements meant this game could have ended with so many different results - but the fact remains, WAR have jumped into 2nd place and have started the season off strong with this 1-0 win over their long-term rivals!

Team news by Immortals

Following the Immortals shock loss to Grok Stompa the Immortals board were unavailable for comment. Current Captain Tuthmosis III said "we did miss Odysseus but we had many other problems during that game, all that will be sorted". <BR><BR>
However Odysseus was available for comment as he turned up for training this morning."Its true that I have been away to the Priory Clinic and I am clean now. While I was there however the club and clinic sorted out a personal trainer for me from another league, and I worked on my ball handling skills and positional play when we receive. These are both now much better. I cant wait to get back on the pitch and get stuck in!"

Match: Tzeentchian Tormentors (1) vs. Big Red Gobbo's (1)

How can this match actually be summed up?

Bullbelimar taken out near the start of the game by Firkin Cant (seems he can).
Carnage for TT in an attempt to stop an inexorable play down the field.
Resulting touchdown by Mulligan.
Not time to do much with the return kick.

Bad start for TT for second half - short kick and blitz against them.
Mantas-Ra nipping in between players to pick up and run the ball away.
Big chase and lightning bolt from crowd to stop the goal with Mantas stunned.
Last ditch blitz by Chaos Warrior to knock the ball out.
Mantas stuns BRG by picking ball up and running TD.

Limited time left to play and good kick finally by TT.
BRG tries powering through TTs line.
Morg 'n' Thorg picks on Mantas-Ra in attempt to cull.
Charun the cruel not taking kindly to this aided and abetted puts Morg out of his misery.

Close game. Draw definitely the right result. Rightly the MVPs went to Charun and Firkin who took our the most expensive players on the pitch.

Team news by Warpstuff Wodents

Season IV and a welcome return of the Wodents sees them set against their previous Div 3b runners-up, the Stendhal Sirens. Shambling bleery-eyed onto the home pitch of their opponents the wodents look a little anxious as they do so minus the company of one Gleek "Chucky" Chundergutts, up and coming thrower and recently restrained drug-addict. Oh, but who's this in the # 8 shirt - it looks as if they've found a new recruit. Yes, it seems some kind packrat has volunteered the services of a new gutter runner, "Sidewinder" Snark. Gee, looks as if he was in the wrong place at the right time. Could he be another "Ziggy" in the making, I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Match: Grimlocks' Grinders (0) vs. Body Count (0)

Much anticipation for this opening fixture of Div.4. With 10 Ag1 players on the pitch however expectation of a high scoring contest seemed slim. That seemed even more likely as Pouring rain was rolled for weather (have to admit my confident smile did wane a little here!). Lewis won the toss and opted to recieve and was then stung by a pitch invasion, I had +2 fame and 8 reptiles promptly ended up face down in the dirt (cue smile returning!). What happened over the next 8 turns was a Blitz-Ra and Skeleton putting great pressure on 2 skinks down near Lewis's endzone. Sadly, whenever the ball did come loose my butter fingered Khemri decided the ball was to much like a hot potato and refused to pick it up. The remaining players decided to just bash hell out of each other and Dekker was removed from play with a -1 St for his troubles (Skeleton for fouling problem solved!). Finally the half ended with the ball on a skink and no opportunities for either team to score.

Praying for a change in weather for the 2nd half (nope, it's still raining!). Lewis kicked and it ended just inside my half on the halfway line. With a high kick chance to catch it (6's eh! Not a chance) I prayed for it to bounce out for a touch back. Oh look! Wrong way. So, I set about protecting the ball and then bashing Lizzies. This became a common theme for 8 turns (again!) and the Grinders gave as good as they got. In fact, after 6 attempts to pick it up and failing I was beginning to get fed up. Then the Kroxigor stepped into the breach and promptly smashed one of my Blitz-Ra's (smile well and truly vanished now!). One last chance to pick up the ball failed and it bounced on the Kroxigor who yes, you guessed it, caught it on a 6. Now things were desperate, and i was reduced to desprate Blitz's on the Krox and protecting the ball. As the game drew to a close, no re-rolls for anyone I decided a 0-0 was not the worst result and just carried on keeping the ball in 3 tackle zones.

Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable game (frustrating at times) and I found Lewis to be a great opponent who played a very good game and was probably unfortunate not to win. It was played at a quick pace and if his players carry on being indestructable he will certainly be in at the sharp end come the end of the season. The return fixture could be a classic.....if it remains dry!

Match: Marsdens Mashers (0) vs. Da Firm (1)

What a treat, Orcs Vs Ogres, the Commish knew what he was doing putting this together, bash bash ouch. Or so we hope. So here i am with my beer in hand and hot dog at the ready.
An the Vault-O-Cam is showing who is in attendance in this 110,00 crowd... Yes there he is the commish himself is here, i can almost hear him but its clear what his saying "if they don't like it, bash there heads in".... I think, yes it is Games vaults own Steve! Has made an appearance... and his gone, no his back again and now gone. Also there is something musky in the air, is that the world famous "judge" in the crowd? Ahh sorry WAR fan's it is only the Nurgles new coach, but never fear lots of time left for this season.

Anyway to the game. The Orcs won the toss and the Coach seems happy with that, taking his time deciding if he should kick or not however. BUT, yes, yes his decided to receive. A great cheer goes off in the stadium and thats right OGRE PARTY RINGS! What a wonderful thing on the home turf to be doing.
The Ogres go to kick and its up, up, up and a little more, up! Yep its out the stadium looks like Crazy Tom will pick where to go with this one.
The Turns are cranking up Sports fan's not a lot has happened in these first 4 turns a few people down but no ouchies, Da Firm's Troll tried to pick up a goblin, he said "no no" and sat back down again after he slipped out of the trolls hand but then the very next turn it didn't matter the troll threw him as hard as he could and i tell you i wouldn't have liked to be that goblin as he fell to the floor... HARD!
Now Turn 5 and first blood to the Ogres OUCH looks like pain has a name and it is " Ard as Nails Spencer". Grippers being seen to by the Apothecary as we speak looks like his had his shoulder bust up, O Dear me, The Apothecary has a knife and his going to work on Gripper, if no one gets him off Grippers going to die for sure! Luckily Da Firms Coach Tom take the apothecary out with a good old rock to the head. Goes to show folks sometimes the Apothecary can make things worse. Now back to the the game...
Turn 5 is a blood feast, Gripper is out for the rest of the game, Bonesnapper is KO and so is Vinnie Bones. lets see what the Orcs can do now.
Turn 6 and 7 follow the same pattern the Orcs move forward a few squares and the Ogres KO another Orc. Looks like its going to be a 0 - 0 at half time. There are 2 Ogres and a snotling around 1 downed Orc and the rest of the Orc line is either on the floor or being Really Stupid (stupid Murdhor).
Orcs Turn 8 and in the empires sake!!! Fan Boy looks set to pop, here he goes his jumping up off his back, his dodging past those two ogres. HE GETS THE BALL WHILE THE OGRES TRY FOR HIM. HE DODGES PAST THEM AGAIN... just a snotling and an ogre to go (and a few squares of running) HIS A MACHINE, DODGE one, DODGE two. GO FOR IT!!! GO FOR IT!!!!

!TOUCH DOWN! DA FIRM
Outstanding play Fan Boy is a real talent, rumor has it he has some wood elf blood in him (he fed yesterday).
An the Ogres have one turn to bash some heads... hold on whats this 'Ard as Nails' Spencer really isn't happy with that, his, yes i can confirm his passing the ball in outrage. PASSING THE BALL AN OGRE!!!
Time for the Second half and looks like ALL the Knocked out players came round when Fan Boy scored, they are all mental for some Ogre hide!
This is a messy affair the Ogres are making progress up the field but it looks like they keep getting to confused to do anything good. Here comes a play the Ogres are in scoring distance. I can confirm the Ogres forgot what his doing. "no reroll" Marsden does in fact seem to have a re-roll and his using it let's go back to the game AND Yes, Big' Domulas still has no idea whats going on, what a bone head.
The Bashing continues with 'Heavy Hand' Zac taking out another Orc he won't be playing again today.
Now for Da Firm can they stop this play, they are really surrounding Domulas. An whack they hit him with everything they got and let me tell you, thats more than good enough!
Domulas goes down with a bash and that leaves another 3 turns of messy, dangerous play from the two teams with one more KO and a bit more dodging from the Orc's to show that they aren't all about the bump and grind.

This has been one hell of a match! An it really looks like both teams have learnt something from it let's go to the Coaches for final words.

So Crazy Tom anything to say - "Well you just gotta go for it haven't you?!" Certainly have Tom and you certainly did!
An No Re-Roll Marsden are you happy with that defeat - "SEE THAT, I USED A RE-ROLL AND WHAT DID IT GET ME A BIG FAT 1!!! A 1. I won't be using them again" so an unrepentant coach there.
Well i look forward to seeing these two coaches at it again in a few weeks but a lot more matches to watch in the mean time!
Be Good

Match: Bo Zalek Tor (2) vs. The Monstars (0)

The first kick off the season was so eagerly anticipated that a small riot delayed play by a few minutes. As the last fans were beaten into order the chaos dwarf front line burst out of the blocks and flattened their opposing line. Getting into the spirit of things debutant minotaur Tallywhacker dropped his horns and gored Steve Stevio. The chaos warrior appeared dead before the Monstar's sorcerous sponge waddled onto the field and after a blast of arcane healing he managed to drag himself and his entrails back to the dugout. Having gained the upper hand in the war of attrition Bo Zalek Tor were reluctant to hand back the advantage and despite initially valiant efforts from the Monstar's own mercenary minotaur the dwarves cage rumbled forward. It all almost came tumbling down when Tallywhacker stumbled on the corner of the cage, risking a clear route to the ball carrier but he righted himself just in time and Craig managed to take the play down the left wing and out of reach of the scrambling defence. The score coming just before the halftime whistle denying the Monstars any chance of a reply.
The Chaos acolytes were hoping their darks prayers might be answered in the second half but fortune continued to shun them. The play degenerated into an all out ruck on the line of scrimmage, with the Bo's guards often proving the difference in a tightly contested fist fight. Tallywhacker left the field Ko'd followed quickly by another chaos warrior and beastman who'd play no further part in the game. With numbers in their favour BZT managed to find a gap in the back of the Monstar's screen and take down the ball carrier. After a a great deal of bouncing off prone players and snatched half chances to collect, the ball came to rest amidst the ongoing scrum. A couple of clearing blocks gave Badself the chance to dart in, and showing remarkable dexterity for a centaur he picked up and made a break down the right. The intensity of the contact had taken its toll on the Monstars line and they couldn't mount a defence that could break the chaos dwarf screen and in the final moments they walked in the 2-0 score.
